Parental consent
Code Commanders · coding academy for children aged 7–14
Your child cannot join Code Commanders until a parent or legal guardian completes this form. We are required by India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act to obtain your consent before we hold any information about a child, and to be able to show that the consent came from you.
Who is asking
Prithvijeet Kulkarni, trading as Code Commanders, Hyderabad. Contact: hello@codecommanders.in.
What we collect about your child
| Their first name and surname | So a coach knows who they are, and so their work is theirs. |
| A four-digit PIN | So they can sign in themselves. Stored scrambled; we cannot read it. |
| Their progress and the games they build | So they can carry on where they left off, on any of our laptops. |
| Attendance | Which sessions they came to. |
| A short write-up in their own words | At the end of each Level a cadet writes a few lines about what they built. It is theirs, and a coach reads it. |
| Which words they picked for their own game | After testing their finished game they tap words like fun, brainteaser or too hard to describe it. |
We do not collect your child's date of birth, address, phone number, email address or photograph as part of their account. The system is built so that it refuses to store them.
What we collect about you
Your name, your relationship to the child, and one contact number or email — so we can reach you about your child's classes, and so we can show that consent was given. Nothing else.
What we send you
When your child is promoted to the next rank, we send you a short newsletter: their certificate, a note from their coach, the few lines they wrote themselves, and the words they chose for their own game.
It goes to the contact you give below and nowhere else — never to a society group, never to a broadcast list, and never with another child's name in it.
A link to play your child's game
If you tick the box below, that newsletter also carries a QR code that plays your child's finished game on your phone, so you can see what they made rather than take our word for it.
Being straight with you about what that link is: it is an unlisted web address, not a secret one. Nobody can find it by searching and it carries no name — but anyone you forward it to can open it. Tell us and we will switch it off the same day. The page shows the game and nothing else; there is no way to reach your child's record from it.
Who can see it
Only Code Commanders coaching staff, and you. We do not sell it, share it with anyone, or use it for advertising. We do not track your child's behaviour and we run no advertising of any kind on screens children use — this is prohibited for children's services and we have built the system accordingly.
The data is held on Google Firebase servers in Mumbai, India.
How long we keep it
For as long as your child attends, and for twelve months afterwards in case they return. Then it is deleted. You can ask us to delete it sooner at any time, and we will.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to show you what we hold, correct it, or delete it. You can withdraw this consent at any time by telling us — in writing or in person. Withdrawing consent means your child can no longer attend, because we cannot run the classes without holding their progress, but it costs you nothing and we will delete their data.

Required. I am the parent or legal guardian of the child named above. I have read the above and I consent to Code Commanders collecting and using my child's information as described, so that they can take part in classes.
Optional. I agree that coaches may photograph my child's physical builds and their work — for example a micro:bit project they have made — and keep these in my child's own progress record, which only staff and I can see.
Optional, and separate. I would like the promotion newsletter to include a link that plays my child's game, as described above. I understand the link is unlisted rather than secret, and that Code Commanders will switch it off if I ask. You may say no to this and still enrol, and still get the newsletter — it simply arrives without the game link.
Optional, and separate. I agree that Code Commanders may use photographs that include my child in its own publicity — for example on our website or in a message to our society group. You may say no to this and still enrol. Saying no changes nothing about your child's classes.
